'Live From the Newsroom' tackles new Eagles coach

Here’s another name to keep in mind as you try to chart Jeff Lurie’s short list for the next coach of the Eagles.

That would be Doug Marrone, head coach at Syracuse.

He’s beat writer Bob Grotz’s sleeper pick for the job.

We talked about all things Eagles last night on a special ‘End of the Andy Reid Era’ edition of 'Live From the Newsroom.' If you missed the broadcast, you can catch the replay here.

Sports columnist Jack McCaffery is sticking with hot shot Oregon coach Chip Kelly as Lurie’s pick. Eagles fans will be able to see him in action tonight as he takes his Ducks into the Fiesta Bowl against No. 7 Kansas State.

WCHE-AM sports talk radio host Bill Werndl and I agree on our pick. We both want Penn State coach Bill O’Brien to be the Birds next head man. It won’t come cheap. O’Brien has a buyout of his deal in Happy Valley that is somewhere north of $9 million. Plus there would be tons of backlash from the Nittany Lion faithful. I still think he’s the best guy for the job.

One thing that surprised me last night was all three of the experts on our panel said they would not hire Andy Reid if they were the boss of an NFL team.

Wonder if anyone from the Arizona Cardinals was tuned in last night?
