Remembering a colleague, an old-school newspaperman

For those of us who have toiled in this racket for awhile, ink gets in your blood.

It certainly did for our colleague, John Roman, whom we mourn this week. John died of a heart attack at the young age of 73.

In fact, that's what John titled his first novel, "Ink Gets In His Blood," based in a newspaper setting and detailing a lurid murder in Philadelphia.

There's another saying we newspaper folks are fond of.

Old School.

John Roman was old school.

For a great look at the remembrances of his friends and colleagues, don't miss his obit.

Rest well, John.

You can put a -30- on it.
