A woman's place

Yesterday it was Washington, D.C.

Tuesday it was Harrisburg.

The ruling bodies that returned to both our state and nation's capitals look markedly different than the ones that departed before the holidays. They look a lot more like us.

In other words, there are more women and people of color.

Four women are now members of the Pennsylvania delegation in the U.S. Congress.

That is four more than were in the House before the November elections. That's correct, at that point Pennsylvania had zero women in D.C. Mary Gay Scanlon, from here in Delco, joined three other women from southeastern Pennsylvania in knocking down that old barrier. In Harrisburg, it also was quite apparent that women were making great strides.

Now more than ever, it appears in both Harrisburg and D.C., a woman's place is in the House - & the Senate.

It's on our editorial page.
