Ray Didinger never forgot his roots

In Philadelphia, as they used to say, "nearly everyone read the Bulletin."

And nearly everyone reads Ray Didinger. And listens to him on the radio.

And for good reason.

They don't put you into the NFL Hall of Fame for nothing.

But here's something about Ray you probably don't know.

Before he gained acclaim at The Bulletin, followed by a long stint at the Philadelphia Daily News and then to NFL Films, Ray got his start in this business at another newspaper.

Maybe you've heard of it.

It's called the Delaware County Daily Times.

And when he started, he wasn't writing about sports. Ray got his start in the biz on this side of the newsroom, covering news. That's right, meetings of local municipal councils and school boards.

And politics. In Delco, there really isn't a lot of difference. Politics is involved in everything.

You can listen to Ray talk about his start in the business - and his sting covering some presidential hopefuls as they made their way through Delco - in this great podcast from KYW's Matt Leon
.

That's the thing about Ray - he never forgot where he came from.

We've never been more proud.
