The stunning plight of Delco's middle class

They call it the American Dream.

It is the drive to a solid, middle-class life.

But here in Delaware County, the American Dream is turning into a nightmare.

Fueled by stagnant wages, and skyrocketing costs for child care, more and more Delaware County families are not only falling short of the American dream, they're having trouble making ends meet.

We're not talking about the indigent.

These are families with annual income of as much as $75,000.

Those are the findings of a new report from Public Citizens for Children and Youth.

The report is called 'Under Water: What's Sinking Families in Delaware County.'

We first presented the findings last week. But the findings are so troubling, we decided to revisit the topic again Sunday.
