Delco taken by storm

Note to self: When they are calling for late-afternoon storms, remember to get your umbrella out of the car.

Which is one way of saying that I managed to get soaked taking the few steps from the front door of the office to my car last night. And to be honest, in light of what many in the county were enduring, I was lucky.

Instead of waiting out the storm, which had been a steady torrent of rain for about a half-hour, I decided to make the dash to the car and got drenched in the process. It made for a squishy ride home, but that was only half the excitement. Trying to finds roads that were not underwater was no treat.

The rain came down furiously, and did not want to relent.

Roads quickly became submerged. There were reports of water rescues in Marple and Haverford, which seem like they were especially hard hit. A large sinkhole opened up outside the Giant supermarket in Marple, at the corner of Springfield Road and West Chester Pike.

You can get all the details here. We'll be updating the story through the day.
