Don't throw dirt on the Phils just yet

No shortage of news on the sports beat.

Can anyone figure this Phillies team out?

Just when we're all ready to start throwing dirt on them, the pull a Lazarus and resurrect themselves.

They coax Charlie Manuel out of retirement, fire their hitting instructor, and put 'Cholly' in charge of the bats. Of, course, the Phils explode, including a red-hot Bryce Harper, who provides a season highlight walk-off grand slam.

Of course, the Phils then squander that momentum by coughing up a weekend series against the lowly Padres in front of their home fans last weekend.

Then it's off to Boston, where they would get smoked by the Red Sox, right? Uh, not exactly. They got another sterling effort to beat the Bosox in the first game, then put away the sweep last night behind another homer from Harper and solid work by the bullpen.

Now it's on the Miami. Which Phillies team will show up there?

Then there's the Eagles.

This team really only faces one question.

Should Carson Wentz play at all in the preseason. It appears as if he will get the night off again tonight vs. the Ravens in what is usually the final real tune-up for regulars, the third preseason game.

Our beat writer, Bob Grotz, for one believes at least a series would do wonders for Wentz.

What do you think?
