Don’t look now, but this is about to be the summer of the Phillies.

Have you tried to get a ticket lately? Last night’s game was another sellout. That’s becoming the norm. Citizens Bank Park is now the place to be, a party every night.
It helps that the team is playing well, but that’s not the whole thing. The Phils’ 3-2 win last night put them 10 games over .500 and 2.5 games up on the Marlins.
But it’s the atmosphere the Phillies have created at their cozy little bandbox of a park. Very simply, it’s cool to be a baseball fan again. Young people are flocking to the park, and even ocasionally paying attention to a game that many people had given up for dead just a few years ago.
Another 45,096 poured through the turnstiles last night to see the defending National League East champions. Monday night they only drew 38,530. That’s now considered an off night.
They were over 45,000 all three days of the weekend. The Red Sox are coming to town in two weeks. Tickets for that series are almost impossible to get.
There is a chance that this team could come very close to selling out the rest of the season. That’s what happens when you mix a very good team that’s fun to watch in a venue that’s considered a jumping joint. In short, Citizens Bank Park is now one of the region’s hottest summer destination points.
Remember all the years when sports fans used to sit around all summer counting the days until Eagles training camp started? Not any more.
