Another day, another bizarre incident involving a car in Upper Darby. Maybe it’s something in the water.
Last week it involved a cab driver. He was apparently ticked after he became one of many to have his ride towed out of a lot on 69th Street. The cabbie was less than thrilled. Police believe he picked up his ride and tried to exit the tow yard without paying. Now he’s charged with trying to run down the lot attendant. Never a good idea.
This week it was a meter maid who found herself on the receiving end of a driver who was less than thrilled with the way she went about her job.
Police say the meter maid got involved in an altercation with a young couple after ticketing their car on Ludlow Street Saturday.
Kalliopi Maroulis was doing her job, and apparently even asked the offender to simply move her car. When she refused, Maroulis whipped out her book and began writing a $15 parking ticket.
Police say a woman inside the car, identified as Ashley Dacons, then struck her with the door and punched her in the face. And that’s not all. About that time her boyfriend, Dijon Prince, came out of the bank. He tried to break up the fracas but ended up in the middle, according to police.
Maroulis suffered a broken wrist and other injuries in the attack. Police arrested the couple a short distance away.
Which reminds us of the line at the end of roll call in the TV series “Hill Street Blues:” Let’s be careful out there.
