A sports day to remember

If you’re not a sports fan, today is not your day.

If you are, and if in particular you’re a fan of Philly sports, then today is about as close as you will get to nirvana.

Let’s see. Today is the Phillies opener. They are in Washington, D.C., to play the Nationals. President Obama will be there to throw out the first pitch. And it only seems like everyone and their mother is heading south on I-95 from the Philly region toward D.C. Expect the place to be Citizens Bank Park South.

Speaking of D.C., it is the new home of our former starting quarterback.
It will be interesting to see if Donovan McNabb will be in attendance, if not today, then at some point during the series.

I am guessing they will not bump President Obama to allow Donovan to throw out the first pitch. Maybe he can do the honors on Wednesday.
Expect the throw to be at the catcher’s ankles.

If that was not enough, some guy named Woods is holding a press conference in Augusta, Ga., as he makes his return to competitive golf at the Masters. It will draw more media than most State of the Union addresses.

Finally, they are playing a basketball game tonight in Indianapolis.
It’s a remake of “Hoosiers,” with Butler playing the role of Hickory High, or David, to Duke’s Goliath.

My luck they’ll play double overtime. So much for making deadline.
