MOVEd to tears

It was exactly 25 years ago today that the city of Philadelphia decided it was a good idea to drop a bomb on the fortified row house that was home to the radical group MOVE.

It’s still a little hard to believe.

Both that a quarter century has gone by, and even more so that any city official could possibly believe that was the prudent thing to do.

The Osage Avenue neighborhood just minutes over the line from Delaware County remains pretty much a ghost town. The houses were rebuilt shoddily, and many today remain uninhabited, and in some cases uninhabitable.

Some times all you can do is shake your head and wonder.
