Specter rolls out big guns

Now I know Arlen Specter is in trouble.

It’s not just the polls that show maverick Delco U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak either neck-and-neck or ahead of the longterm incumbent in the battle for the Democratic nomination.

In the final days of the campaign Specter is turning to the Democratic big guns to boost his flagging campaign.

Yesterday he rolled out an ad with the biggest weapon in the Dems’

arsenal. That would be President Barack Obama.

A new Franklin & Marshall poll out this morning reinforces the surprising shift noted by the Rasmussen poll earlier this week. Sestak is now in the lead in this barn-burner.

The F&M poll has it closer, with Sestak holding a razor-thin 38-36 percent edge. In other words, the race is a tossup.

The key will be turnout and the undecided vote. The F&M poll noted that almost a quarter of likely voters still haven’t made up their mind.

That’s unusual this late in a campaign.

And it’s still unclear whether voters are moving to Sestak or away from Specter.

One thing is sure. Sestak has made this a race. One that will go right down to Primary Day.

Make sure you check back tomorrow for our endorsement in the Democratic Senate Primary.
