Hollywood in Chester Township? Who would have thought it.
You wouldn’t think the tiny township would have much in common with Tinseltown. You’d be wrong.
Chester Township is about to become what is usually referred to as “a player.”
That’s because they held the official groundbreaking yesterday for an
$85 million stuido complex that will make Delco the movie-making center of the Philadelphia region.

No less an authority than Sharon Pinkenson, executive director of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office, was saying exactly that at yesterday’s ceremonies.
Pinkenson said she just returned from Hollywood, where the buzz about Chester Township is already building.
“They thought this was exactly what this region needs,” Pinkenson told the crowd of dignitaries. “I even came home with scripts.”
The studio is expected to create somewhere in the vicinity of 1,000 jobs, many in the construction phase.
It also created another headline for Jeff Rotwitt, this one a little more positive than the ones that have been raining down on him for the past couple of weeks.
Rottwitt was at the center of the mess surrounding the Family Court Building in Philadelphia. His role in that situation cost him his position with his law firm.
It wasn’t his first turn in the spotlight. He also gathered attention in the initial days of the development of the Haverford State Hospital tract out in Haverford.
Rottwitt is the developer of what is being referred to as Sun Center Studios.
