The tables arrive at Harrah's

Last week I quipped that the folks down at Harrah’s in Chester – after posting another down month where revenues were off 12 percent from the year before – probably could not wait for the arrival of table games.

Maybe they heard me.

The gambling barons announced that the tables starting arriving yesterday.

Now actual play is not expected until sometime around the July 4 holiday weekend.

But Harrah’s wants their players to be aware of what is in store for them. That’s why they have hung a banner across the main floor of their slots parlor declaring, “Comong Soon! Your New Live Table Games Experience. Thank You For Your Patience.”

And what will the payoff be for gamblers? Real tables that were trucked in from Las Vegas and unloaded at the Chester gaming palace yesterday.
That means poker, blackjack, craps and roulette.

Other Pennsylvania casinos are doing the same thing. And they’re not alone. Down in Delaware, both Dover Downs and Delaware Park are racing toward installing their own table games, all in search of that ever-wandering gambler – and his wallet.

We’re planning a story on the arrival of table games for our special Ben Franklin edition on July 4. We want to know what questions you’d like us to ask and how the arrival of table games will affect your play. Will Delco gamblers now no longer make the trek to Atlantic City? Have you been to Harrington, Del., where table games have already arrived? Would you be willing to give us a review of the operation down there?
