A hot time in A.C.

It’s pretty safe to say that casinos in Atlantic City are feeling the heat – in more ways than one.

This is probably not exactly what they needed. There was a time when Atlantic City was it when it came to gambling on the East Coast. It was either there or Vegas.

Not anymore.

More and more states have jumped into the realm of legalized gambling, in no small part as a way to replenish disappearing revenue.

Pennsylvania got tired of seeking money flow out of seemingly every border. First they put in slots parlos, including the new casino in Chester.

Now they’re really throwing down the gauntlet.

Today Harrah’s will have a “soft” opening of table games. That’s right, you’ll be able to play poker, blackjack, craps and roulette.

This is the last thing Atlantic City needed. Their revenue has been declining for years.

Now the question is will players from Pennsylvania still drive to the shore when they can play table games right here at home.

Just to provide another kick when they’re down, two Atlantic City casinos lost their air-conditioning yesterday.

Temperatures inside Caesars and Trump Plaza were zooming into the 80s.
Talk about some hot action at the tables.

A.C. without the AC. Probably not the slogan they were looking for down the shore.
