There is no end to the violence in Chester. It was not a good weekend in the city.
After three different shootings overnight Friday into Saturday, police report still another shooting in the city Sunday night.
This time gunfire rang out around 11 Sunday night at Eighth and Woods streets. Two young teen boys, 14, and 15, were hit.
That no doubt will do nothing to silence the call by some in the city to reinstate the state of emergency and strict curfew that seemed to rein in some of the street violence earlier this summer.
Mayor Wendell Butler sounded like a frustrated man when we talked to him Sunday about the late-night shootings Friday night.
My guess is that he won’t be in a much better mood today, with two more young gunshot victims in the city.
There is not going to be any easy answer to what is going on in Chester.
It took a long time for the city to get in the position it finds itself in today. It likely will take just as long to get out of it.
In the meantime, gunfire continues to be a routine occurrence on the city streets.

I AM SICK AND TIRED OF ALL THESE SHOOTINGS. INSTEAD OF HAVING PEOPLE VOLUNTEERING GUNS FOR FOOD, MAYBE THERE SHOULD BE SEARCH WARRANTS FOR ANYONE WHO HAS A FELONY AND RETRIEVE GUNS FROM THERE HOUSES. THESE CRIMINALS DON'T TURN IN GUNS.
