Troublesome twist to child porn case

Delaware County had a run on child porn arrests last week.

On back-to-back days, D.A. Mike Green outlined charges against men accused of having disturbing sexual images of young children in their possession.

On Thursday, a teacher at a West Chester elementary school who lives in Upper Providence got popped.

Then the very next next day a Ridley Township man who was already on probation for a similar offense, was busted again.

There was an interesting corollary to the arrest of David Devine, the teacher. Investigators noted he also ran a summer camp called Camp Flying Hawk.

Devine apparently did not have a license for the facility. But there’s a good reason for that.

In Pennsylvania you don’t need one. That’s right, pretty much anyone can hang out their shingle and proclaim whatever they want about their summer camp.

Devine touted the facility for second- through fifth-graders as “all about making the summer come alive for younger campers.”

Green stressed there was no indication that either of these two suspects engaged in any physical activity with young people.

Still, you would think there would be a little more oversight in terms of summer camps.

Chalk this one up as another warning to parents.
