Jack Whelan has seen enough.
Yesterday the Delaware County Council boss let off some steam – and directed it at the recurring problems at the county’s prison.
They’re having this worrisome problem. They keep letting prisoners go who are now supposed to be out on the street.
Complicating matters in Delco is the fact that we are the only county in the state that has contracted out prison services. The county is operated by a company called Community Education Centers Inc., from New Jersey.
In recent months they have no less than four “mistake releases,”
paperwork snafus that have resulted in criminals being turned loose who in fact were not yet suppposed to be getting their taste of freedom.
