Ho-hum, another Eagles exhibition game, another night when their offense fails to get into the endzone.
Forget the Eagles (if only we could). We can deal with them next weekend.
The big story this morning is the Phillies. Please tell me you weren’t stuck watching that dreck from Lincoln Financial Field and missed the Phils’ dramatic comeback.
If so, you missed one for the ages.
Of course, a lot of people who may have started out watching the Phillies might have been tempted to fly over to the Birds. You can thank Joe Blanton for that. In a word, he was horrible, digging the Phils in a 4-0 and not making it out of the fifth inning.
The Phils were down 7-3 going into the seventh. That’s when they went on a Rocky Mountain High.
Much has been made of the fact that much of the Phils’ offensive malaise has centered around Ryan Howard and Chase Utley. Both struggled mightily as they came back from injuries.
They got better last night in Denver.
Both hit home runs – with Utley smacking a grand slam – as the Phils put up 7 in the 7th inning.
With their Big 3 of Halladay, Oswalt and Hamels backed up by Howard and Utley on the mend, it looks like a September to remember.
