The Eagles open their own rib joint

Andy Reid looks like a man who enjoys his ribs.

But the ones he was digesting yesterday likely left him with a serious case of indigestion.

After surviving the end of the Donovan McNabb Era, and the aborted one half debut of the Kevin Kolb Era, and the arrival of the savior in the Michael Vick Era, the Eagles now are now considering opening their own Rib-It joint.

That’s because Vick left Sunday’s game against the Redskins in the first quarter with a rib injury when he was sandwiched at the goal line trying to score. Adding to Reid’s agita is the fact that the play was negated by one of the never-ending series of Eagles’ holding penalties.

Yesterday we learned Vick is not the only one nursing sore ribs. Reid said star running back LeSean McCoy also suffered a fractured rib in the game.

Reid said that Vick’s injury was a crack in the cartilage in a rib in his upper chest. Reid said his QB was “day to day, week to week.” But last night Vick said on a Virginia radio station that he likely will be out one to two weeks.

That might come as news to his coach, who was not ready to commit to fact that Vick might not be available for the Sunday night game against the 49ers.

It’s also unknown whether McCoy’s will be able to play on Sunday.

It’s enough to turn a coach’s – and the fans’ – stomachs.
