Anyone else crying in their beer after watching that game last night?
I’m not talking about the Sixers’ opener. We’ll have plenty of time to commiserate over them this year.
I’m talking about Game 1 of the World Series.
These were the two best teams in baseball? And does anyone feel even the least intimidated by the thought of matching the Phils up with either one of these juggernauts?
Call it an opportunity missed. The Phils are now golfing while the Rangers and Giants go at it in the Fall Classic.
Not even Cliff Lee could help the Rangers last night. He looked entirely mortal in the first post-season loss of his career.
In a very sloppy game, the Giants prevailed, 11-7.
Lee lasted just four and two-third innings, giving up seven runs on eight hits in the process. Giants ace Tim Lincecum wasn’t a lot better.
All of which only makes the Phils’ absence only that much more difficult to swallow.
