Lentz, Meehan debate tonight

With just eight days before we go to the polls, one of the most hotly contested congressional races in the nation continues to unfold right here in our own back yard.

Democrat Bryan Lentz and Republican Pat Meehan continue to slug it out in a battle royal to fill the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak, who is running for the U.S. Senate.

Lentz and Meehan have spent a lot of time lobbing hand grenades at each other over seemingly inconsequential issues such as nominating issues.

Meehan has admitted to some problems with some of his petitions that were gathered by a rogue collector.

Lentz has been in the spotlight for the past week after finally admitting in a session with our editorial board that he was aware of the efforts of some of his supporters to help third-party candidate Jim Schneller get on the ballot. More importantly, Lentz did not seem to be especially bothered by the move. This is politics, after all.

Tonight the two men will stand on the same stage tonight at Neumann College for the final debate of the campaign.

Should be a humdinger. We’ll be there to provide full coverage.
