One of the most interesting candidates on Tuesday’s ballot paid a visit to the Daily Times Editorial Board Monday.
Third-party candidate Jim Schneller, who is running against both Democrat Bryan Lentz and Republican Pat Toomey, was part of our latest live-stream session with a candidate.
You can view the entire session here, and make up your own mind about Schneller.
Of course, he’s been in the headlines not so much for being on the ballot but how he got there.
During his session with the editorial board last week, Lentz admitted he knew that his supporters were working to help Schneller get the necessary signatures on his nominating petitions.
Lentz said he did not consider the move “a mortal sin,” that Schneller was not recruited, that he had already made the decision to run.
In a matter of minutes, that admission soon became part of the political and news cyberworld, eventually landing on the pages of the New York Times.
For now, I still marvel at Schneller’s at some of the statements Schneller makes without batting an eye.
He’s still not convinced President Obama fulfills the consitutional amendment that the commander-in-chief be a U.S. citizen. He wants him to produce a birth certificate and has gone to court to do it.
That’s just one of the lawsuits he has pending.
Of course, in addition to the Lentz “help” with his campaign, he also points out that he still doesn’t believe the state attorney general has gotten to the bottom of the problems with Meehan’s petitions.
The guy can go from saying the most outlandish things one second, to making a lot of sense the next.
You almost have to admire the zeal with which he goes about his task, even if he is tilting at windmills.
