There’s no truth to the rumor that Charlie Manuel is considering adding Andy Reid as his bench coach for the playoffs.
We’ll deal with Mr. Reid and his problems in another blog item. For now, we can all thank god for the Phillies.
The Fightin’s did not know until late yesterday afternoon who their first-round National League Divisional Series opponent would be. They knew they were playing Wednesday, but there was a bewildering array of possibilities as to who they might face.
Unlike the fog that continues to surround Andy Reid and his time management issues, the Phils’ playoff plans were being crystallized about the same time the Jason Avant was dropping that “Hail Mary” pass from Kevin Kolb in the end zone, thus sealing the Birds’ fate.
The Phillies will open the NLDS Wednesday at 5:07 against the Reds.
Expect to see Roy Halladay on the hill for the Phils. The two will hook up again Friday, at 6:07.
The two teams then head to Cincinnati for a Sunday night contest. And that could be a problem for Philly fans. The game likely will start about the same time, either 5 or 6 p.m. That means it is likely going to run into the Sunday night NFL game, which just happens to feature the Eagles out in San Francisco.
It appears Philly sports fans will have some time management issues Sunday night.
Here’s a hint. Don’t ask Andy Reid for advice.
