The baseball commissioner can now uncross his fingers – and his toes. The Phillies are still alive.
Selig – and the brass at Fox-TV were looking at the distinct possibility of a Texas Rangers-San Francisco Giants World Series. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
But it pales next to the powerhouse possibility of a rematch of last year’s Fall Classic pitting the New York Yankees and Phillies, two huge media markets.
The Yankees now must win tonight in Texas to force a deciding Game 7 in the ALCS.
Selig will be the one in the Yankees hat.
