Two familiar names back in the news again today.
Former Ridley Township Officer Brian Decker was sentenced to six months probation and anger management classes for an assault on a Wawa clerk. You can read the full story here.
No doubt there will be screams that Decker got off easy because he was a cop. I’m not buying. Sentence seems about right to me.
Judge Patricia Jenkins noted in her sentencing that this case involved poor judgment all the way around. I don’t disagree with her.
Also back in the news is former Penn-Delco School Board member John Green.
He might have thought he was in the clear after he hired an forensic auditor to go over the expenses he was charged with ripping off from a booster club for girl athletes at Sun Valley High.
After the report was completed, the D.A. withdrew the charges to review the matter.
Yesterday they refiled charges against Green. They allege again that he bilked the club out of more than $21,000. That’s about $5,000 more than originally thought.
The district attorney yesterday indicated that the forensic audit actually contained “inaccurate, incomplete and misleading information.”
If at first you don’t succeed….
Green is free on $100,000 unsecured bail. He’ll be back in court for his preliminary hearing on Nov. 17.
