The bucks stop here

 Times are tough all over.

Just ask the folks down in Sharon Hill. They’re about to fork over another 1 percent of their hard-earned dough to help bail the borough out of its financial mess. Council approved the new 1 percent earned income tax in a heated special meeting Monday night.

You can read all the details in Rose Quinn's story here.

It’s a sad tune being sung all across the region. Things aren’t any better on the Main Line, where Radnor Township is struggling with a yawning deficit and looking at a possible 9 percent tax hike.

But nothing seems as drastic as what is happening across the river in Camden.

The city that just last week was voted the fourth most dangerous city in the nation is seriously considering whacking half its police force.

You read that right. Half.

Camden is looking at laying off 383 employees. That includes half the police force and a third of city firefighters.

The bucks stops here? You bet.
