The National Football League and the NFL Players Association are looking at fourth-and-long.
The collective bargaining agreement expires tonight at midnight. The NFL as we know and love it might do the same a few minutes later.
The owners are threatening to lock the players out if they don’t have a new deal in place.
That means no “OTAs,” mini-camps, free agency, training camp or anything else. Injured players will no longer be able to rehab at team facilities. In fact, players won’t be allowed to use team workout facilities at all. Don’t look for too many of them to show up on the treadmill next to you at Planet Fitness though.
The two sides have been talking all week, but have little to show for it.
Meanwhile, the clock is ticking.
Hey, at least we know that whenever the NFL returns, Michael Vick will be the Eagles quarterback. He signed his one-year deal yesterday. He will make $16 million next season.
