Obama's birth certificate

Eight U.S. soldiers were killed in Afghanistan yesterday.

But the nation didn’t want to talk about that. Instead we spent the day poring over President Obama’s birth certificate.

The president looked to pour cold water on the smoldering rumor that he was not a born-in-the-USA citizen that’s once again being fanned by Donald Trump and others in the “birther” movement. Of course that won’t happen. The doubters will never be convinced. They don’t want to be.

Obama urged the nation to move beyond the “silliness” of this non-issue.
He’s right, of course. But it’s not going to happen.

I happen to think it’s more than just “silliness.”

Maybe it’s just me, but does anyone else think this thing simply stems from some people still not being able to come to grips with the fact that a black man is president of the United States?

And does anyone believe this would be happening if this were a white man and his name was not Barack Hussein Obama.

Obama yesterday insisted the nation was above this kind of debate.

I have my doubts.
