He has become the forgotten man in the Phillies lineup.
And at least part of that is because he is not in the Phillies lineup.
Still, almost the entire time the Phillies spent in Clearwater, much of the talk centered on the injury to Chase Utley and what his absence would mean to the Phillies feared lineup.
Not so much anymore.
That’s what getting out to a 5-1 start and putting up double-digit runs and hits most days will do.
At some point Utley and the Phillies will have to make a decision. I still think he at least attempts a comeback, but quickly finds it’s a no-go and eventually goes under the knife.
But as long as the Phils continue to pound the ball the way they are now, and rack up the wins in the processm Utley will continue to be the invisible man.
