A very presidential Obama

It was just over a week ago that President Obama was trying to put out the persistent brush fire concerning his birth certificate.

In releasing the long-form document, the president reminded the nation that we have more important things to do and did not have time for such “silly” sideshows.

Little did we know.

Just a few days later, the president gave the green light to the strike that took out the world’s most wanted man, Osama bin Laden.

Last night he showed up on “60 Minutes” to talk about it.

No doubt all of this is proving especially galling to his critics. In the past week, Obama has looked nothing if not presidential.

But the president was surprisingly frank in his description of the raid on bin Laden’s compound in a Pakistan suburb. He admitted it was a risk, but one worth taking.

“Justice was done,” the president said.

Now his critics are left to carp about his decision not to release the gruesome photos of bin Laden’s corpse, something I am not totally convinced was the right call myself.

One thing I am sure of: I haven’t heard anyone mention that birth certificate in the last week.
