Bring no the Braves

Maybe they were looking ahead to the Braves.

The Phillies surged to a 4-0 lead last night against the Marlins in sultry Miami, then watched as that lead slowly ebbed away. The Phils even managed to take the lead again, only to see the Fish rally to tie and then end the game with a walk-off homer in the 10th off Danys Baez.

Yes, Baez is still lurking out there in that bullpen.

So much for the preliminaries.

The Phillies will wind up the pre-All-Star Game portion of the season with what you could realistically call a big series Friday night against the Braves.

This one is pretty simple. After last night the Phils lead the Braves by three games in the NL East. Come late Sunday afternoon, the Phils will either be comfortably ahead of the Braves, or they could be dead even. Of course, they also could be just about where they are now.

Luckily, the Phils will be well-armed for this three-game series. They’ve lined up their big guns to face the Braves.

They will send Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels to the mound.

That sounds like three wins. At least that’s what Charlie Manuel has in mind.

Bring on the Braves.
