The high price of doing the right thing

Everybody talks about doing the right thing, especially when it comes to crime.

Newspapers are always railing about the need for the public to come forward and tell police what they know.

Authorities are always complaining about crowded crime scenes where nobody has seen anything, and nobody is talking.

Then there’s Gary Krobath. He did the right thing when an old acquaintance who unbeknownst to him had just killed several people during a shooting spree in Montogomery County showed up at his Trainer home.

After several grueling hours spent with this guy, Krobath finally convinced him to lay down and rest. Then he called 911.

What followed was a six-hour standoff with a SWAT team.

Now Krobath is trying to pick up the pieces of his life.

He paid a pretty hefty price for doing the right thing.

Here’s our editorial today on the issue.
