The lowest of the low

They don’t get much lower than this.

Meet Leron Magilner.

Police out in Haverford say Magilner faked a case of terminal cancer and scammed his friends out of thousands of dollars.

He went so far as to shave his head and set up a page on Facebook and talked about his terminal illness.

Yesterday it all came crashing down on him as he was led into court in handcuffs.

At least he didn’t try to avoid what he had done. Magilner basically admitted what he had done when a reporter from Channel 10 stuck a microphone in his face as he was being led into court.

“I was in a tough place and didn’t properly know how to ask for help,” Magilner said.

Several fundraisers held by co-workers raised $11,000 to help Magilner. Police say he used at least $3,000 to pay for routine living expenses.

Police charged him with theft by deception and identity theft.
