Nothing to toast in Harrisburg

Here's a stunner.

The head of the LCB and the union that represents its workers are not happy with Mike Turzai's plan to get Pa. out of the booze business. That, of course, would be their business.

No state stores, no jobs, although the theory is that some of them likely would be hired by the new private enterprises that would pick up the sale of wine and spirits. I can't say I blame them. I don't want to see anybody lose their job, especially in these times.

I just think the state has no business being in this business.

Yesterday both groups turned out in Harrisburg to blast the plan. You can read about it here.

Don't hold your breath waiting for this antiquated system to go anywhere. You can plan on continuing to go to three different places to buy a six-pack, a case of beer and a bottle of wine.

What a state.
