This was not the kind of weekend that helps when people talk about Chester and its struggle to reverse its fortunes.
The city had two fatal shootings over the weekend. In the first, police said an officer fired on a man who was carrying a weapon as he fled from officers.
Less than five hours later, a 21-year-old man was gunned down near the intersection of Seventh and Lloyd streets in the city.
Guns continue to be an issue in Chester. These two incidents will not help that problem.
They also add fuel to the argument made by many that Chester, despite the economic advances clearly being made in the city, continues to be an unplace safe that is to be avoided.
Reversing that image remains Job 1 for the city.

Mobile shooting facility, NRA certified trainers, Eddie Eagle kids program in the schools?
What they are doing ain't working, maybe it's time to bring in the gun experts.
