It’s official. We’re a diaster.
And not just because it says so on the front page of this morning’s newspaper.
Just hours after Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley was in Darby Borough to survey damage from Hurricane Irene and the governor’s office was asking the government to declare the county a disaster area, the feds did just that.
Delco was one of 13 counties now eligible for federal aid in the fallout of the killer storm that blew up the East Coast this weekend.
You can read our story about the tour of damaged areas in Delco here.
Now it’s time to clean up. That’s no small task, especially when PECO estimates there are still as many as 29,000 people in the county still without power.
Try telling them, or the people in Darby Borough, that Irene was more hype than hurricane.
