Here’s what we know after four totally meaningless exhibition games for your Philadelphia Eagles.
Not a lot.
Other than the fact that they will enter the regular season on Sept. 11 in St. Louis with two rookies on an offensive line that has not had time to gel.
And that their linebacking corps is inexperienced, with a capital I on starting middle linebacker Casey Matthews.
And now their backup QB Vince Young, who played well in last night’s 24-14 win over the Jets, has a bum hamstring.
Make no mistake. The backup quarterback spot on this team will do a lot more than carry a clipboard. That’s because if there is one thing you can guarantee about this season is that Michael Vick will miss some games. It’s all about the way he plays, the way he reacts during the games. And putting him behind this offensive line, even with Todd Herremans now guarding his blind side at the right tackle spot, is a gamble.
You can read Bob Grotz’s take on the game here.
Of course, about this time I should offer this cautionary note, which I toss out there every year.
Tell me one thing you remember about last year’s preseason. Thought so.
Bring on St. Louis.
