It could be a lot worse

Here’s the thing to remember as we glance at these ashen skies and curse our fate, all the while making jokes about when exactly we moved to Seattle.

It could be worse. A lot worse.

We could live in Wilkes-Barre. Or Harrisburg.

They aren’t joking about the rain there. They aren’t complaining about how long it takes to get to work.

They are watching their homes and lives being washed away. That’s if they can. Many have been evacuated.

As many as 100,000 people have been evacuated in the wake of a raging Susquehanna River. This morning it appears the river will crest just a tad under the level of the levees that protect homes, meaning hopefully that a disaster won’t turn into a catastrophe.

Five people already have lost their lives.

Yes, we’re all tired of the rain that has drenched us seemingly every day since early August.

But it could be a lot worse. Just ask the people in Wilkes-Barre.

How does it feel to be responsible for the total gutting of a revered newspaper, from it's postage stamp reduction,to it's scrambled printing(box scores and comics are laughable)? Plus, you had the nerve to move production into your back yard in Chester County. Hey how about that weather and those Phillies?? tom killeen

It feels the same way it felt when I first walked into this building 30 years ago. A privilege and an honor every day. I appreciate the fact that you care about it as well. I assure you I take this job very seriously. If you'd like to talk about it, give me a call. 610-622-8818.
