Heron's Nest: Turnout looks like - what a surprise!

10:20: Polls have now been open for three hours, and all indications are turnout is miniscule. That's sad considering what is at stake. Delco voters will elect three new members of County Council, which just announced a preliminary budget that includes a tax hike.

Also on the ballot today are a new district attorney and five new seats on the county Court of Common Pleas.

And don't forget the avalanche of borough, township and school board offices up for grabs.

If there is going to be a big turnout anywhere in the county, it will likely come in Chester, where there is a heated race for mayor.

Incumbent Republican Wendell Butler is being challenged by Democrat John Linder. The once-solidly GOP city is now trending Democratic. The Dems managed to put two of their candidates on city council in the last election.

I need someone from Chester to check in with The Heron's Nest with some numbers on turnout in the city.

Eddystone's Republican leaders are handing out the 'official Republican Ballot' but they are crossing off Dave Paterson's name with a sharpie. Paterson, a Republican, has run without the endorsement of the Party. Are all Republcian leaders really this petty?
