See Andy run

It's hard to tell if Andy Reid has won or lost when he meets the media after a game, or the day after for that matter.

Reid gives the public the same gruff monotone that is his calling card. And of course, the now infamous opening line to reporters: Time's yours.

The Heron's Nest will break with tradition here and praise Reid for the game plan he devised to humble the Cowboys. But I want to focus on one thing in particular. This is not the first time this year the Eagles have trotted into their locker room with a comfortable halftime lead.

Of course those other times the Birds were not nearly as happy when the game ended, having coughed up three consecutive second-half leads in stumbling to a 1-4 start.

So why was Monday night different. Lots of reasons, but one in particular: LeSean McCoy.

McCoy had his foot on the Cowboys throat. And the Birds never let it off in the second half. The Eagles used McCoy - who is fast becoming the best back in the NFL - to control the clock and dominate the Cowboys' vaunted defense.

It's not necessarily something Reid likes to do. The guy is in love with the forward pass. But he used McCoy correctly Monday night, giving him the rock 30 times on the way to the win. With a big second-half lead, the goal is to run out the clock and keep the other team off the field. That's exactly what the Eagles did.

So there was Andy at his day-after presser saying he has not had any change of heart offensively, that the Eagles will continue to rely on the pass.

You can read about it here.

I don't know if he had his fingers and toes crossed at the time. The Eagles have some spectacular weapons on offense.

But none means more them than McCoy.

He's the real McCoy, and he will be their ticket the playoffs after a disappointing start.

See Andy run? If he wants to win.
