Eagles still alive, unfortunately

The Eagles death watch continues.

This shouldn’t be that hard. You would have thought after that epic flop in Seattle that you could stick a fork in these Birds – that they’re done.

You’d be wrong.

That’s because apparently no one wants to win the NFC East. Both the Cowboys and Giants lost on Sunday. They play each other this coming Sunday and then once more in a couple of weeks.

If you’re so inclined, you want them to split. And then you want each of them to lose one other game. Finally, of course, you have to hope the Eagles win all four of their remaining games.

Then you have three teams sitting tied at an ugly 8-8 atop the division. Guess who wins? That’s right. That would be your Iggles, thanks to a better divisional record.

Count me out. This season can’t end soon enough. Then hopefully the process of rebuilding this team can begin. I would start with the head coach.

Which is why I was a bit dismayed by the comments of one Michael Vick yesterday. I’ve been a Vick backer. But I didn't like what I was hearing yesterday, when the QB said he still sees big things in the Eagles’ future, and made it clear he believes that future includes Andy Reid as the Eagles coach.

You can read Bob Grotz’s column here.

Maybe the Eagles will put all of this to rest by going belly up in South Beach this weekend when they hit Miami to play the Dolphins.

Michael Vick in South Beach? Could be tempting.

Maybe the saddest part is how far our expectations for this team have plummeted.

The “Dream Team” is now hoping to sneak into the playoffs with an 8-8 record.

Swell.
