Interesting situation brewing down at St. Madeline-St. Rose School in Ridley Park.
This was doesn’t follow the usual trend. It’s not about sex abuse. It’s not about missing money. It’s not about the possibility of the school closing.
It’s about Principal Dennis Reitano, and why he’s been placed on administrative leave.
The archdiocese made the move earlier this week after several students indicated they were “uncomfortable” with Reitano’s actions during a Safe Environment lesson.
But there’s a twist. Ridley Park Police Chief Tom Byrne says that after his department checked out the situation, they are not going to file any charges.
Thursday night they held a meeting at the school. The place was packed with parents, many there to support Reitano and wondering what happens now. You can watch the video we picked up from NBC10 here.
The ball is now in the archdiocese’s court. We’ll keep our ear on it to see if Reitano gets his job back.
By the way, if you are a parent, or a staffer, and want to talk about the situation, feel free to give us a call. You can reach me at 610-622-8818, or you can email me at editor@delcotimes.com.
The same offer goes to Reitano, who now is in something of Catholic school limbo.
