Drexel Hill residents look to take back their streets

Drexel Hill residents are not waiting for police to collar the man suspected of trying to lure kids into his van and exposing himself to young females.

Instead they’re getting involved.

Top Cop Mike Chitwood and Mayor Tom Micozzie met Sunday with a group of about 25 residents in the neighborhood where the suspect has now struck five times. You can read about it here.

Residents already are using an email chain and have set up a website in efforts to keep their kids safe.

Police can’t be everywhere, even though they have increased patrols in the area.

Resident Brian Amato says it’s time for neighbors to band together and take back the streets.

“It’s my town. It’s my responsibility as a homeowner,” he said. “I wanted to so something for my community.”

Good for him.
