Over-under on number of citations for new anti-texting law

Why am I not terribly surprised that Upper Darby top cop Mike Chitwood is not especially enamored of the state's new ban on texting while driving?

You can read his reaction here.

I don't blame him a bit. The law is going to be almost impossible to enforce.

Some county officials visited schools in Upper Darby and Ridley yesterday to remind kids the importance of not texting while they are driving. Pretty sound advice. If nothing else gets their attention, word that it could cost them $50 should to the trick.

Still, I don't know how this law will hold up to a court challenge when it does not ban use of hand-held device to make a call. That's right. It's only illegal to text, not make or receive a call. And you can text if the car is not in motion, such as sitting at a red light.

How about a contest for the over-under on the number of citations issued in Delco for violating the new law in its first year on the books.

I'll put the line at 25.

Over or under? Post your pick here. I'm going under.
