Some thoughts on the newspaper business

In it I tell of the lament of the modern newspaperman, one who is “plugged” in 24 hours a day, and yet seems to be told every day that his profession, and the newspaper he creates every day, is no longer relevant.


Meet two groups of people who might disagree with that notion.


That does not mean my profession does not have challenges.


Nothing could be further from the truth. One of the biggest challenges in our continuing transformation from a mostly print company, to a multi-media entity that delivers information to readers on many platforms.


The Pew Trust has completed a study on how newspapers are doing in terms of making the transformation from print dollars to digital dollars.
