The Phils lost another game last night. And another key starter.
I suppose things could get worse.
I’m just not sure how.
They’ve now lost five straight, and have come up empty three straight nights against one of the better teams in the league, the L.A. Dodgers.
Adding injury to insult, second baseman Freddy Galvis is now on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain.
You can read all the details here in Ryan Lawrence’s game story. Then weep.
This season is slowly going down the drain. Roy Halladay was sitting in front of a microphone yesterday informing us the second opinion he got on his ailing right shoulder pretty much told him the same thing as the first one. There is no structural damage in his shoulder, but he will not be throwing a baseball for a couple of weeks.
Down in Clearwater, Chase Utley and Ryan Howard took part in what they call an extended spring training game. Who knew there such things. They didn’t play in the field. All they did was hit. In other words, don’t look for them in the Phils’ lineup any time soon.
Hey, at least no one will be talking about how they failed to push a run across to tie the game once again in the late innings last night. Everyone in Philly will be talking about Joe Banner today.
The way this Phillies season is shaping up, Eagles season can’t start soon enough.
