We had a great discussion last night on two important movements taking place in the city of Chester.
It was my pleasure to be joined on our live-stream Internet broadcast that we call ‘Live From the Newsroom’ by several members of the Brothers of Concern.
Also joining us was local entrepreneur Ulysses ‘Butch Slaughter.’
Representing Brothers of Concern was the “first lady” of the group, Nicole Cogdell, Secretary Joe Benson, and event coordinator Nakhir White.
I was happy to provide the platform for them to remind people of what they’re doing in the city, including their “Real Men Really Read” drive to increase literacy, in particular among young men who are incarcerated.
Slaughter has developed a members-only network dedicated to developing experts in fathering skills and then sharing those with the community.
He’ll be doing a special program on Friday at the William Bennett Homes in conjunction with the Chester Housing Authority.
If you missed the show, you can view the replay here.
Chester has its share of problems. What is often overlooked is the number of people who are offering solutions.
I was reminded of that again by these two groups last night.
