Penn State saga not going away

Jerry Sandusky is in jail, where he belongs.

Hopefully, the “tickle monster” will never again be able to abuse a child.

But anyone who thought the story was going away was dreaming.

Over the weekend a CNN report tracked emails that indicate that then Penn State President Graham Spanier and perhaps legendary football coach Joe Paterno knew more about the Sandusky allegations and much earlier than first indicated.

Yesterday the Paterno family referred to the leaking of material from the investigation as a “smear” and asked the state attorney general’s office to release all emails and records related to the investigations into the way Penn State officials handled the Sandusky child sex-abuse scandal.

You can read the full story here.

All of this goes back to the infamous scene described by then coaching intern Mike McQueary between Sandusky and a young boy in a shower.

The fallout led to charges against two Penn State administration officials, and the eventual ouster of both Spanier and the legendary Paterno.

This is only going to get uglier. Only one thing’s for certain. It’s not going away. And it’s not going to be pretty.

Can you say special prosecutor?
