We're talking booze tonight on 'Live From the Newsroom'

Remember all that talk about blowing up the state Liquor Control Board and turning over the sale of wine and spirits in Pennsylvania to private enterprise?

Yeah, well, put down those champagne flutes. It didn’t exactly work out that way.

State Rep. Mike Turzai’s plan to privatize the system went flat as a day-old beer. It got lost in the budget talks and now is due to be revived in the fall.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t dream. And it certainly won’t stop us from talking about it.

And that’s exactly what we will do tonight as we focus on the entire issue of privatization on our live-stream Internet broadcast, “Live From the Newsroom.”

We will welcome two special guests who have some very strong feelings on the issue.

Wendell Young IV may just be the No. 1 foe of privatizing Pa.’s liquor system. And for good reason. He heads the United Food and Commercial Workers Union that represents all those employees who work in those state stores. Young no doubt will offer a “spirited” argument as to why privatization is a bad idea.

Also joining us will be Katrina Currie from the Commonwealth Foundation. They support the move to get Pennsylvania out of the booze business.

If you have a question on privatization you’d like answered, email me at editor@delcotimes.com and I’ll put it to our panel.

Then tune in tonight at 7 on DelcoTimes.com and take part in our live chat.

Sip, sip, hooray! We’re talking booze tonight on ‘Live From the Newsroom.’ Join the conversation!

Sure, why not. Everything the government privatizes ends up golden.
